JOB TITLE: Assistant Drama Advisor

CLASSIFICATION: Extra Comp

SUPERVISOR: Building Principal

FLSA STATUS: Exempt

CONTRACT: 190 Days 

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Assistant Drama Advisor assists the Drama Advisor with the production of a minimum of 3 productions per year which may include a musical. As a minimum, a musical will be done every other year. 

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED

 

The Assistant Drama Advisor is responsible to the building principal and will work in cooperation with the Drama Advisor and Activities Director.

  

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Assists the Drama Advisor with the following:
  2. Selection and preparation for productions.
  3. Directing the productions.
  4. Supervision of students.
  5. Instruction and coaching of individuals.
  6. Supervision of cleaning the stage area during and after productions. 
  7. Assist in other activities such as stage craft as assigned by the Drama Advisor.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

Knowledge:

  1. Of drama activities.
  2. Of current techniques in lighting, staging, etc. 

Skills:

  1. Ability to guide students toward individual development in acting skills.
  2. Ability to get along with students, but must be firm enough to give guidance and maintain control. 

Attitudes

  1. Willingness to spend additional hours beyond regular school day in preparation of productions. 

Experience

  1. Should have participated in drama production.
  2. Should have technical theater experience (lighting, staging, etc.). 

Education

  1. Valid teaching certificate desired.
  2. Some previous high school drama experience desired.
