Job Title:                      Maintenance Repair Worker 

Supervisor:                  Manager of Grounds and Facilities

FLSA Status:                Nonexempt      

 

Summary:  Performs skilled and semi-skilled work in several trades in the maintenance, construction, and repair of buildings, equipment, and grounds.

Education and/or Experience:  High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); preferred experience as a tradesman and completion of or working towards a recognized apprenticeship training period or one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.   

 

Interpersonal Skills:  Willing and able to learn routines and procedures to accomplish tasks in several different trade areas. Ability to interact appropriately with teachers, staff, community members, and students. Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; Contributes to building a positive team spirit.

 

Language Skills:  Ability to communicate verbally and in writing fluently in English. Preference may be given to applicants fluent in English and Spanish.  Ability to effectively present verbal information. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:  General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use e-mail.

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:   As determined by the District, including valid Oregon driver's license, blood-borne pathogen and blood spill training, and asbestos awareness training.

The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.  Employees may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. Employees may be subject to temperature fluctuations, fumes, odors, and dust. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions and outdoor weather conditions.  The employee may be exposed to vibration with the use of machinery.  The employee may occasionally be exposed to the risk of electrical shock due to working with pumps and motors.  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.  Occasionally the employee must work in high, precarious places and around moving parts.
